Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Museum. They are the people who greet you when you come into the museum and who answer your enquiries. They also work behind the scenes caring for, documenting and researching the collections. Many of our volunteers have lived in the area for a considerable time and their knowledge of the collections and Slough’s history is a resource in itself. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at the museum please contact

Trustees also give their time voluntarily but in a more formal capacity. A Board of Trustees first came together in 1982 to plan for a museum in Slough. The membership has changed over the years according to members’ time commitments but remains a very active group ensuring that the Museum meets its aims and objectives. Trustees bring additional skills to the Museum such as accounting, fundraising and human resources, which are increasingly required for the successful running of a modern museum.
