The church dates from 1861. It was designed by George Edward Street and has a number of stained glass windows by C E Kempe.

There became a need for a church at Chalvey when the Infants’ School which was used as a place of worship became too small for the growing congregation.
It was through the efforts of the “poor people” of Chalvey that the church was built.
Their efforts were supported by Queen Victoria and the Prince Consort who subscribed £100 towards the building of the new church.

The foundation stone was laid in 1860 and the building consecrated in 1861 by Bishop Wilberforce.
